Register for All India Quota counseling on the MCC portal

  2. 2

Fill in your college and course choices, then lock them

  3. 3

NEET UG 2027 — frequently asked questions

Is NEET UG online or on paper?
On paper. You answer 180 multiple-choice questions by marking an OMR sheet with a ballpoint pen — unlike JEE Main, which is a computer-based test.
How is Biology weighted?
Biology is examined as Botany and Zoology, 45 questions each. Together they carry 360 of the 720 marks — half the paper. That weighting is why Biology accuracy usually decides a NEET rank more than Physics does.
Is there an upper age limit?
There is currently no upper age limit for appearing in NEET UG. You must, however, be at least 17 by 31 December of the year you seek admission.
How many attempts do I get?
There is no cap on the number of attempts. Appearing more than once is common enough that it carries no disadvantage at admission.
What score do I need for a government MBBS seat?
It changes every year with the number of candidates and seats, and differs sharply by state and category — so treat any fixed figure with suspicion. Look at the previous year's closing ranks for your state and category on the counseling portal rather than a predicted cut-off.
Does negative marking make guessing a bad idea?
Blind guessing costs you, since a wrong answer is −1 against +4. But if you can confidently rule out two of the four options, attempting is usually worth it on the arithmetic. The expensive mistake in NEET is rarely guessing — it is misreading the question.
Where do I check official updates?
Always at neet.nta.nic.in. Dates, eligibility and pattern are set by NTA and can change; this page is a summary, not an official publication.
